July '09 - Rachel and 8 month old Isabelle fly from Michigan to Colorado to stay with me.
On our first day we drive up to Mt. Evans. Evans is the closest 14er to Denver and has the highest paved road in North America which takes you just below the summit. Here's Rachel at Summit Lake.
The road ends here and it's a short hike to the summit.
How many 8 month old girls from Michigan have been to 14,264' - at least one!

Evans also has the highest observatory in the world.
Roxborough Park, just southwest of Denver
Vedauwoo, Wyoming. I love this place. We are about to climb Edward's Crack, directly above Ray's head in the photo.
Below the crux finishing moves.
Rachel proved to be a natural at crack climbing...of course, she is my sister!
Climbing up through a tight hole.
The entrance to Baldwin's Chimney.
Top of the chimney and about to hop over to Parabolic Slab on the left.
An easy but exposed climb up Parabolic Slab.
The best rappel at Vedauwoo, and Rachel pulls it off nicely.
Parabolic Slab rising above the Nautilus formation.
Whitewater rafting the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge.
The Royal Gorge Bridge. It is the highest suspension bridge in the world at 1,053'.
