Took my first trip to Belgium and hung out with friends in Brussels for a day. The next morning drove an hour away to Freyr to climb with people I'd never met. Had an excellent time.
My first climb, alittle tough for a warm up but really good! Freyr is limestone sport climbing.
This is the city of Dinant which stems from a word meaning "divine valley". Dinant is very close to the Freyr crag.
Taking in the scenery as I walk towards the center of town along the Meuse River.
The main attractions in Dinant - the Notre Dame Church and the Citadel. The Citadel is a fortress built in 1820 by the Dutch and later occupied by German invaders in World Wars I & II. Dinant is also the 1814 birthplace of Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone.
Yet another trip to Belgium and back at Freyr, this time with friends Jason & Raf who live in Brussels.
This was the last route I'd tried on my first trip. Thought I'd give it another go now that I knew the beta and wasn't as tired. Went much better the second time around.
Driving through France on my way to climb in Switzerland. I wondered why I was seeing people picnicking along the road and then there was traffic cops everywhere. Finally saw a sign that said I was on the official road of the Tour de France (not sign pictured). Exciting for sure, but I was anxious to get outta France before getting stuck there!
Switzerland! Need I saw more? Ok, I'll say alittle more. Pictured here is Salbit. I had come to Switzerland to do a ridge climb with Dan, who I'd met in Valle di Mello. Little did I know the scale of what I was in for!
